On June 10, Javier Avitia, Executive Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs for CBS Studios International, received the Mexican American Bar Foundation’s Professional Achievement Award at the organization’s gala in Los Angeles. The gala, a sold out event that awarded 27 Latino law students $270,000 in scholarships collectively.
MABF is a non-profit that provides scholarships to latino law students in ABA accredited law schools in Los Angeles and Orange Counties — $2.5 million since its foundation in 1991. Each year, MABF organizes a gala event to honor scholarship recipients and to recognize practicing attorneys with Professional Achievement, Pioneer for Justice and Community Impact awards. In 2017, MABF awarded scholarships to 25 law students with various latino backgrounds, including Mexico, Cuba and Central America.
