On Tuesday, November 16, the CBS Strategic Sourcing Department hosted its annual Supplier Diversity Networking Event at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, CA. The goal of the event was to provide diverse suppliers with increased opportunities to do business with CBS. The day began with remarks from Leslie Moonves, President & CEO, CBS Corporation, emphasizing the CBS commitment to supplier diversity.
The event featured an expo as well as matchmaker meetings for 25 pre-selected minority and woman-owned suppliers representing an array of categories including marketing, advertising and production services. In addition to representatives from 9 CBS Business Units, the event featured participation from other studios and corporations including NBC Universal, American Express, FOX, Warner Bros., AT&T and Staples.
Josie Thomas, Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer said: “Events like this continue to demonstrate CBS’s dedication to supplier diversity by giving suppliers direct access to key decision makers and the opportunity to discuss specific purchasing requirements.” As evidence of the event’s success, some suppliers have already received orders as a direct result of their participation.
