Armando Nunez, Jr.President, CBS Paramount International TelevisionArmando Nuñez, Jr., was named President, CBS Paramount International Television, following the merger of CBS Broadcast International and Paramount International Television in August 2004. One of the international television industry’s most successful executives, he joined CBS Broadcast International as President in July 1999. In January 2000, following the merger of CBS Television and King World Productions, he assumed the role of President, CBS Broadcast International, and Executive Vice President, CBS Enterprises. In his role as President, CBS Paramount International Television, Nuñez has oversight of all international distribution, sales and marketing for programming assets from King World, CBS News, Showtime, CBS Paramount Network Television and CBS Television Distribution as well as the largest library of television product. In addition, he is in charge of creating and licensing of international formats such as “Next Top Model,” directs nine offices worldwide, and manages the company’s interests in TV1, a classic television series channel in Australia. Under Nuñez’s management, CBS Paramount International Television distributes a comprehensive slate of top-rated, critically-acclaimed entertainment and news/information programming. Programming assets include CBS Paramount network and syndicated programming, such as the highest rated comedy ever on UPN, Everybody Hates Chris, NBC’s successful series Medium, the hit CBS dramas NCIS and Numb3rs as well as the Number One entertainment news show, Entertainment Tonight; CBS News shows including CBS Early Show and 60 Minutes; the hit reality series Survivor and America’s Next Top Model; King World’s hit game shows Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, and the Number One talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show along with favorites from Spelling Television such as Charmed and a library of product which contains more than 70,000 hours of programming. Nuñez has held leadership positions in international distribution for the past 20 years. Prior to joining CBI, he served as President, Universal International Television. In that role, he oversaw all program sales worldwide, as well as the division’s expansion in new areas of distribution. He achieved significant output deals and product sales with ITV, RTL, TF1, SBS and other major broadcasters, with a slate including such series as Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, Law & Order and The Jerry Springer Show; Universal feature film packages, and the extensive MCA library. Nuñez was also responsible for developing and supplying programming to the Universal global channels and managing the division’s eight offices worldwide. From 1994 to 1997, Nuñez was President, New World International Television Distribution, with responsibility for international sales, marketing and co-production. Under his direction, New World launched sales for the U.S. network serial dramas, The Bold and The Beautiful and Santa Barbara, and established them as the top-selling and highest-rated programs worldwide in the genre. Nuñez also spearheaded such co-production ventures as the serial dramas Pacific Drive and Paradise Beach, in partnership with Village Roadshow. Nuñez was Executive Vice President, International Sales, Viacom Entertainment from 1992 to 1994. In addition to selling Viacom’s programming slate worldwide, he was active in supplying product for the company’s global networks, including MTV, VH1 and Showtime. Nuñez is a member of the Board of NATPE International, as well as the Board of the International Council of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). In addition, he is on the Board of Visitors of the George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University. A native of New York, Nuñez graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and management.
