EVP and General Manager, CBS College Sports Network

Steve Herbst is Executive Vice President and General Manager, CBS College Sports Network.  Herbst, an NBA television veteran, oversees the day-to-day operations of the network and reports to Sean McManus. 

 

In January 2008, CBS Sports announced a comprehensive reorganization of its college sports operations, incorporating the cable, broadcast and online activities of College Sports Television (CSTV) into its world-famous brand. Under the leadership of McManus, in March 2008, CSTV became the CBS College Sports Network bringing the power of the CBS Sports name to a developing, cross-platform property.

  

Herbst joins CBS College Sports Network from the National Basketball Association where he served as Senior Vice President, Broadcasting and General Manager, NBA TV. Prior to that Herbst was Vice President, Series Programming and NBA TV for NBA Entertainment, and NBA Entertainment's Senior Director of Production. He supervised NBA and WNBA production, including NBA Inside Stuff, NBA Match-up and programming for NBA TV.

 

His extensive credits at the NBA include Senior Director of Production for NBA Entertainment (1995-1999) and Production Supervisor for NBA Entertainment where he was responsible for staffing the production division.  Herbst helped launch NBA TV in 1999.  He also served as an Associate Producer of NBA Inside Stuff (1990-1993). Herbst began his career at NBA Entertainment in January 1989 as a Production Assistant and Game Logger

 

Herbst was graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B.A. in Sports management. He was born in Peekskill, N.Y. and currently resides in Millburn, New Jersey with his wife Beth and two children.
