CBS Interactive Music Group Wins “Best Live Webcast Series” for Live on Letterman

CBS Interactive Wins “Best Sci-Fi App” for Star Trek PADD App for iPad

NEW YORK and SAN FRANCISCO, November 15, 2011 – CBS has been named a two-time Media Vanguard Award winner for its outstanding broadcast-to-digital offerings, as announced this week by Advertising Age, the leading publication for marketing and media. CBS Interactive Music Group’s best in class multiplatform music series, LIVE ON LETTERMAN, was honored as the “Best Live Webcast Series,” and CBS Interactive’s official STAR TREK PADD app for iPad, based on the iconic television franchise, was honored for “Best Sci-Fi App.” CBS was named alongside several other leading companies including HBO, Condé Nast, MTV, TV Guide, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, Spin and Entertainment Weekly. Winners will be honored on Nov. 15 at the Media Vanguard Awards reception, part of the ME: Media Evolved conference in Manhattan at Metropolitan Pavilion.

CBS Interactive Music Group’s LIVE ON LETTERMAN series, a live multiplatform webcast concert from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, showcases big name artists performing live for an intimate crowd following the taping of their performance on the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN on the CBS Television Network. The webcasts are available live and on-demand across CBS properties, including CBS.com, CBS RADIO’s stations, as well as being available through partner sites, through mobile applications and on the JumboTron in Times Square.
 Cited by Advertising Age for offering “essentially free full-fledged concerts,” the LIVE ON LETTERMAN series began in late 2009, and has since garnered nearly 85 million views to date and catered to music lovers around the globe. The STAR TREK PADD app, developed for CBS Interactive by ArcTouch, provides fans with the ultimate mobile "Trekkie" experience, transporting them back through the extensive 40-year history of the STAR TREK television franchise, including its amazing universe of characters, planets and technology spanning from STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES all the way to STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE. 

The app is described by Advertising Age as a “geektastic delight: It gives superfans access to decades worth of "Star Trek" information, via the rich database available at startrek.com, and serves it up with a twist: The app mimics the "Star Trek" LCARS computer system. Unlike the actual LCARS, though, this app integrates with the show's Facebook page and Twitter feed, boldly going where no fictional computer operating system has gone before.”

Since the STAR TREK PADD app’s launch in July 2011, it has been recognized worldwide, reaching the #1 spots in the Entertainment category in both the Paid and Top Grossing charts on the App Store in 11 countries. The STAR TREK PADD app is now available for $4.99 in the App Store.
